"I am a contribution."

A few years ago I wrote this on a notecard and put it on my dresser. I have always been a contributor, someone who jumps in to help where help is needed. As the future of work changes, we will increasingly need to use our talents and skills across a network of communities, rather than for a single employer. That is what I have been trying to do the last few years.

Find communities that you resonate with, then do work that matters. Build trust, respect, community, and people will miss you when you are gone. Don't give away your work, but also don't be afraid to give more than you receive.
