The Path to Being a Teacher

Being a teacher doesn’t start with being on a stage or a screen. It starts on the cushion.

Daily practice. Ongoing study. Honest reflection. A willingness to sit with discomfort and not look away.

At first, it’s simple:
Show up.
Practice.
Study the teachings.
Do short retreats.
Ask questions.
Connect with the community.

Over time, something shifts.
You start helping out wherever you're needed.
You show up not just for yourself, but for others.
You go on longer retreats.
You go deeper into the teachings.
You get your hands dirty, solving problems as they come up, not avoiding them.

You become more generous.
More kind.
More available.

You start sharing your experience, maybe in a writing, maybe in conversation.
Eventually, you’re asked to guide a meditation session. Then maybe a course.
You teach. You lead.
You carry the lineage forward by embodying it.

You help with bigger projects. You see what needs to be done and you do it.
You meet people where they are.
You empower others.

Being a teacher starts with being a student.
Committed to your own practice.
And committed to helping others.
